Abstract

The elastic constants of both the Ll2 type (Co, Ni)3Ti and the B2 type CoTi compounds were measured at room temperature by a rectangular parallelepiped resonance (RPR) method. The elastic constants, c11, c12 and c44, of (Co, Ni)3Ti are 228, 148 and 129 GPa, respectively, while those of CoTi are 203, 129 and 68 GPa. The elastic anisotropy of the (Co, Ni)3Ti is large (A=3.23), while that of the CoTi is relatively small (A=1.83).
