Abstract
This study examines the integration of computer-mediated communication tools in collaborative English writing within higher education. It addresses enhancing student engagement, writing quality, and digital literacy skills in an increasingly digital academic landscape. Through a comprehensive literature review and analysis of empirical studies, the research explores the effectiveness of both synchronous and asynchronous CMC tools in facilitating collaborative writing processes. The study reveals that strategically implementing these tools can significantly improve peer interaction, feedback processes, and writing outcomes. The findings suggest that CMC tools offer viable solutions for enhancing collaborative writing in higher education, provided institutions address technological infrastructure needs and provide adequate training for educators and students.
