Abstract
The objective of this work is to identify the urban foundations from which the Hispano-American city was built in the repopulation processes that took place during the Christian Reconquest of the Iberian Peninsula. The investigation begins in the reign of Alfonso X El sio and it goes until the time of the discovery in a route in which the union between history and urbanism is indissoluble. The crucial moment of this historical journey is precisely its origin, the reign of Alfonso X El Sabio, because in it the urban pattern that will lay the foundations of the future Spanish city in America is discovered. The grid reappears as an urban trace. Keywords: History, Latin American town, Spanish medieval, trace orthogonal, urban planning
