Abstract
Abstract. Alter G, Altfeld M (Massachusetts General Hospital, Charlestown, MA, USA). NK cells in HIV-1 infection: evidence for their role in the control of HIV-1 infection (Review). J Intern Med 2008; 265: 29-42. Increasing evidence supports the notion that the innate immune response, and in particular, natural killer cells play a central role in determining the quality of the host immune response to infection. In this review we highlight recent evidence that suggests that NK cells influence the clinical fate of HIV-infected individuals. © 2008 Blackwell Publishing Ltd.
