Abstract

A compilation of diatomic molecular lifetimes data is presented in the accompanying table. From these measured values transition probabilities, oscillator strengths, branching ratios, transition moments, and similar radiative properties of molecules can be calculated. The compilation does not include a complete list of measurements made in an indirect manner such as with the Hook method or with the shock tube and magnetic resonance techniques. The lifetimes of long-lived species are also not included. References for the time-of-flight technique, which involves accelerators, have been included as well as a few for magnetic resonance techniques. Since the latter is a recent development, extensive data have not yet been obtained. © 1971 Academic Press, Inc.
