INDICI AI MULTIETNICITĂȚII ÎN TOPONIMIA DIN OLTENIA

Abstract

The paper aims to make an inventory of the ways in which ethnicity was expressed in the Romanian onomastics. We are to rely in our approach on the information provided by the toponymy in the region of Oltenia. There is to be identified and analysed, in addition to the ethnic terms themselves, what other substitutes could indicate the origin of a person (surname – nume, patronymics, nicknames; practiced profession; suffixes; other terms etc.)
