Abstract

Spontaneous diploidization of the maternal chromosome set (SDM) in Wels catfish (Silurus glanis) was described. The gynogenetic progeny of Wels catfish were produced by the egg fertilization of UV-irradiated sperm of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella). The microsatellite DNA analysis and active nucleoli counting was applied for identification of gynogenetic progeny of Wels catfish. © 2009 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
