Abstract

Striking similarity was seen when ratios of methane to each of heavier hydrocarbons in analyzed samples from producing wellheads were compared with hydrocarbon ratios obtained from ppm logs; it became apparent that hydrocarbon ratio pattern could be used to predict productive potential of reservoir; this new technique has been found to be exceptional aid by providing information in addition to that previously available from mud logging.
