Abstract

This paper aims to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) is used in the export-import process in Indonesia combining diffusion of innovation (DIT) with comparative advantage theory. Previous studies on the use of artificial intelligence in export-import mainly focused on the features and potential usage of artificial intelligence. This study provides an actual case of how artificial intelligence is used in the export-import process in Indonesia. This research is qualitative using unstructured interviews with exporters, freight forwarders, logistic companies, and Indonesian customs. The results showed that artificial intelligence is in the experiment phase for exporters, freight forwards, and logistic companies, while for Indonesian customs, artificial intelligence is used to provide relative advantage.
