EL PROCESO DE APERTURA DE LA UNIVERSIDAD DE COSTA RICA: INICIATIVAS Y FUENTES DE CONFLICTO (1926-1940)

Abstract

This article addresses the history of higher education in Costa Rica, with special emphasis on the controversy that arose regarding the reopening of a university in the country. Furthermore, this work is aimed at identifying the criteria that prevailed during the University’s creation, as regards its mission and structure, as well as rescuing other existing criteria on this same topic.El artículo hace un recuento de la historia de la educación superior costarricense enfatizando en la polémica sobre la pertinencia de la reapertura de un centro universitario en el país.  Asimismo, el trabajo pretende identificar los criterios que privaron al crear la Universidad, respecto a su misión y composición, así como rescatar otros criterios existentes en ese momento respecto a este mismo asunto
