Abstract

A new cell structure has been developed to realize very high darkroom contrast ratio. Crystal Emissive Layer (CEL) is added on the phosphor layers, in addition to that on the MgO layer. As this structure enables stable and very low luminance reset discharge, high contrast ratio over 20000:1 has been achieved in new Pioneer's PDP “KURO”.
