Literature Review on the Relationship Between Educational Zakat Support Towards Students’ Motivation and Academic Achievement

Abstract

Education plays a vital role in enhancing the social mobility of asnaf students, particularly those categorized under fisabilillah zakat recipients. This article aims to comprehensively examine the relationship between educational zakat support and students’ motivation and academic achievement through a literature review. The study covers both empirical and theoretical articles published between 2010 and 2024, sourced from indexed databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Findings indicate that educational zakat support has a positive impact on academic achievement and student motivation, encompassing intrinsic aspects such as learning enthusiasm and personal goals, as well as extrinsic aspects like academic rewards and social recognition. This increased motivation is frequently associated with improved academic performance. The effectiveness of educational zakat is found to depend on multidimensional support, including academic guidance, psychosocial well-being, and a comprehensive and targeted zakat delivery system. The study suggests that zakat institutions should broaden the scope of their interventions beyond financial aid, focusing on the holistic development of asnaf students and implementing long-term impact assessment mechanisms for educational zakat.
