Embarking on a research degree and joining the conversation as a new researcher can be a daunting experience. In this chapter a new researcher provides a personal reflection as she attempts to master the process and shares 5 lessons learned along the way: 1. Know yourself 2. Choose your supervisors well 3. Select a topic for study 4. Document the journey 5. Join the research community
