Renúncias à representação criminal no âmbito da Lei Maria da Penha: práticas policiais e ações das mulheres em situação de violência

Abstract

Abstract This article presents a study on cases of renunciation of criminal representation by women in situations of intimate partner violence in a Specialized Police Station for Assistance to Women in Brazil. Based on participant observation of police response to complaints and interviews with women who resigned, practices of applying unconditionality to criminal representation in cases of physical violence and two groups of resignation actions, called strategies and dilemmas, were identified. These actions were understood by the consubstantiality of gender and social class.
