Abstract
The (3)-1,2-B9C2H12- and (3)-1,7-B9C2H12- ions are converted to the “dicarbollide” ions, (3)-1,2-B9C2-H 11−2 and (3)-1,7-B9C2H11−2, when treated with bases. The dicarbollide ions serve as ligands in the formation of transition metal complexes which often resemble the well-known metallocenes. The preparation, characterization, reactions, and structures of these complexes are discussed. © 1968, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
