Abstract

Introduction: As well as offering economic benefits, tourism has great potential as an educational tool, promoting intercultural understanding between different social groups. This study explores the contribution of tourism to intercultural education, highlighting its importance in promoting global citizenship and cultural empathy. Methodology: The systematic literature review method was adopted, analysing five articles published between 2016 and 2024. Results: The results indicate a positive impact of tourism on intercultural education, highlighting the educational value of travelling and its role in promoting a more connected and empathetic society. Conclusions: The study highlights tourism as an essential tool for improving cultural understanding and promoting a more interconnected and empathetic world.
