Abstract

Changes in the global context have impacted the development of higher education, for which they present great challenges, one of which is to improve the linkage with the various sectors, as well as the contents, both theoretical and practical, to reinforce students’ skills and competencies during their professional training. The objective of this article is to explain the strategies that universities in the state of Sinaloa that implement programs in the area of agricultural sciences foresee, from the perspective of university governance. The methodology is qualitative, involving the systematization of articles on the subject and 15 in-depth interviews with coordinators of educational programs at universities in Sinaloa-Mexico and key actors in the governmental sector. The results show that the dual system has not been consolidated, which is why professional internships stand out as a strategy where young people are linked to the sectors and acquire experience. However, greater regulation and articulation is needed in the conglomerate of the higher education system, government and business. Given this, in conclusion, it is necessary to build transversal strategies aimed at formulating public policies that involve the different interested sectors.
