Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic directly affected education, and this impact has brought about a reorganization of the education processes with massive changes. As the whole world in Turkey, distance education in all levels of education has been started. Its features, such as its ability to appeal to a broad audience, be shaped according to individual learning and different qualities, use multimedia tools, its interaction regardless of time and place, make distance education advantageous over faceto- face education. On the other hand, the disadvantages of distance education are that the higher cost of the equipment, also the learning process cannot be followed at the desired level, the level of attention is relatively low. Thus, it can give way to technical problems much more easily and the technical infrastructure required for the system's smooth functioning. It is essential for the efficiency of the education process to reveal the situations encountered in the application stages of distance education. The aim of this study is to reveal how its practitioners evaluate distance education. The study group consists of 40 Turkish teachers working in middle schools and imam-hatip secondary schools in Salihli district of Manisa province of Turkey. The study aimed to determine the opinions of the teachers on the acquisition of necessary language skills, technical problems experienced, the efficiency of this education method, etc., by digitally collecting the 21-item interview form created by the researchers on Google Forms. The obtained data were analyzed by content analysis. According to the research results, distance education Turkish lessons are not as efficient as the face-to-face education process, and the teaching of necessary language skills are quite negatively affected. Within the context of the opinions of the teachers who took part in the study, some suggestions were developed in order to make the process more efficient. (English) [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
