Abstract

This research aimed to develop a sound resonance practice device for senior high school students and improve their science process skills. The device is designed to analyze the sound resonance phenomenon and calculate sound velocity in the air. The research and development was conducted by using ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) as a development research method. The device consists of resonance tubes, piston, sound sensor, Arduino UNO, amplifier, adaptor, and wires. Several practices could be tested on this device, including analyzing resonance on room temperature with different frequencies and sound resonance at different temperatures. The practice device can be equipped with a student worksheet. Based on the results of the feasibility test through expert judgement scheme, the score from the media expert, the subject material expert, and the instructional expert was 82%, 93%, and 89% respectively that means an excellent interpretation of the developed device. The normalized gain (n-gain) test obtained an average gain score of 0,64 in the first field test and 0,62 in the second field test that indicated medium gain interpretation. Based on the results, it could be concluded that the developed sound resonance practice device was qualified and enhanced students' science process skills.
