Abstract

Primary liver cell cancer is a complication of cirrhosis and is more common in men. It is usually related to chronic hepatitis B virus infectionor alcoholism, and more rarely to α1-antitrypsin deficiency, haemochromatosis, or primary biliary cirrhosis.We report the development of primary liver cell cancer in two women with autoimmune chronic liver disease, an association which has not been described. © 1981, British Medical Journal Publishing Group.
