Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common chronic diseases. A 25% of the patients to be operated are people diagnosed with diabetes mellitus. The peroperative evaluation of individuals with hyperglycemia is important to determine both anesthetic management and the patient’s quality of life. In this review, physiopathology, diagnostic criteria, pharmacological and peroperative evaluation and management of diabetes are discussed.
