Abstract

Pressurized combustion is a technology that significantly reduces emission of gaseous pollutants. This work presents the results of pressurized combustion of Ziemowit hard coal at air-and oxy-combustion regime. Impact of pressure on SO2 conversion is analysed and discussed. Experiments were carried out using auto-thermal, laboratory-scale (fuel input of up to 0.8 kg/h) bubbling fluidized-bed (BFB) combustor under pressurized conditions (0; 1.5; 3.5 and 5 bar) and while flue gas composition was continuously analysed using a Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) analyser. SO2 conversion was analysed in presence of Czatkowice limestone that was continuously fed during the combustion test. Additionally, impact of pressure on emission of other gaseous pollutants (NOx, CO) is presented and discussed.
