Abstract

Presented arguments are shown to indicate that the mass of spiral galaxies increases almost linearly with radius to nearly 1 Mpc. This means that the total mass per giant spiral is of the order of 10 billion solar masses. A local mean cosmological mass density is determined, whose uncertainty is not less than a factor of 3.
