Abstract
Over the last 4 decades, when His majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al Said began the process of Renaissance in Sultanate of Oman, Women are encouraged to work shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. This paper presents an overview of the various factors that have encouraged the Omani women to pursue their careers, like support of women from the Islam religion and the Holy Quran, the wise leadership of His Majesty under which thrust has been given to education and Omanization, setting up of Women's Association and favorable labor laws etc. It highlights the roles and contributions of Omani women in the Sultanate where Omani women today are found in responsible positions like Ministerial post, health, Education, banks and other leading sectors. It also analyses the obstacles hindering their progress and suggests recommendation for facilitating the Omani women to participate in all aspects for their nation's growth.
