Abstract

A nuclear phenomenological study of the even-even Ytterbium Isotopes Yb166−176 was carried out, in the framework of the interacting Boson model-1 (IBM-1) and modified soft rotor formula (MSRF). The energy levels for ground-state, γ- and β-rotational bands were calculated. Also, electric transition probability B (E2) for these isotopes was calculated. Furthermore, the intrinsic coherent state was used to find the potential energy surfaces. The staggering effect of a γ-band, which is a function of spin, was analyzed. The results obtained by applying the IBM-1 and the MSRF are in good agreement with the corresponding experimental data for most of the nuclear states.
