Abstract

In view of the handover problem of visible light communication (VLC) and WiFi, most of existing works focus on optimization of vertical handover algorithm of heterogeneous network. However, cooperative handover strategy of horizontal handover (HHO) and vertical handover (VHO) was rarely studied. In the situation, this paper proposes a cooperative horizontal VHO (CHVHO) strategy for heterogeneous network based on quality of experience (QoE). This strategy mainly coordinates the HHO and VHO of the network from the aspects of building servers and the simplification of indoor movement model, which improves the QoE allocated to users. Simulation results demonstrate that, compared with traditional immediate VHO (IVHO) and dwell VHO (DVHO), this strategy can be adaptive to user movement and get higher average QoE.
