Abstract

This article presents an analysis of the General Data Protection Law (LGPD) and a survey of the main changes that the legislation proposes, in order to investigate how it has been implemented in companies and the impacts that have been perceived. The idea of this article is to show that the main purpose of the Law – the implementation of a data protection culture – was ignored, while there was a focus on promoting rapid implementation of legislation with the primary purpose of not incur sanctions. Thus, through qualitative and quantitative studies on the topic, the article sought to show the need for innovative thinking and for the creation of a culture of data protection in companies, in order to promote the implementation and consolidation of legislation and its benefits in a continuous and longlasting way.
