Abstract
© 2018 SERSC Australia. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the association of energy consumption with households' characteristics of residential buildings in Dhaka city, Bangladesh. Pearson correlation has been employed in this study as correlation among variables allows the researchers to explore the relationship between two or more variables at a time and provides an indication of the direction as well as measure the strength of relationship among the variables studied. Energy consumption data are collected from households' monthly electricity bill charged by Dhaka Electricity Supply Company while socioeconomic characteristics and building features were obtained through household interview and measurement of buildings' floor and window dimensions respectively. Results indicate that, energy consumption has a strong positive relation with households' number of appliances, monthly income and flat size rather than households' member.
