Abstract
Withinthe rapidly expanding area of workplace learning in most parts of the world, little attention has been given to the educational contributions of trade unions. Despite the conceptual difficulties and program variety characterizing labor education, this is a serious policy and scholarly omission. For many trade unionists in different parts of the world, their learning as workers and citizens has been and remains, primarily through their trade union. This article provides a brief overview of the richness and complexities in the understanding of union learning in different parts of the globe.
