Abstract

The high temperature vapor which filled the vesicles just before the eruption condensed by quenching by contact with seawater. Thus, a negative pressure condition was attained in the vesicles, resulting in the suction of sea water into the vesicles. The pumice rapidly gained weight and was deposited in situ.-from Author
