TOPONIMI DESA DI KECAMATAN MUARA SAHUNG DAN KECAMATAN LUAS KABUPATEN KAUR

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the toponym that underlies the naming of villages in Muara Sahung District and Luas District, Kaur Regency. This research is descriptive research. The data in this study is verbal information from informants, traditional leaders, and people who know about the origin of village naming in Muara Sahung and Luas sub-districts. Data collection methods were obtained from 1) observation, 2) interviews, 3) recording, and 4) notes. Data analysis used the steps of 1) data transcription, 2) data identification, 3) data classification, 4) data analysis, 5) conclusion. The results showed that the toponyms of villages in Muara Sahung and Luas sub-districts seen from the naming tend to show village names named after place names, human behavior, and human activities. The conclusion in this study is that village naming tends to refer to aspects of embodiment including: the background of the earth, the background of the waters, and the background of the natural environment, the social aspects include: traditions, social conditions, and community leaders, cultural aspects including: the value of positive thoughts. Suggestions in this study are for further researchers to examine and examine more deeply to conduct studies that examine culture based on anthropolinguistic theory.
