Abstract

This paper presents some results of calculations and model measurements concerning transient voltages occurring in the stack of Van de Graaff generators, subsequent to the spark-overs between the terminal and the earthed tank. The equations giving the transient voltage characteristics and some of their applications are described. The values of capacitances proposed in an earlier work [8] for protection against transients are calculated by a computer for special cases. © 1970 with the authors.
