CPR training in the United States: the need for a new gold standard (and the gold to create it) CPR training in the US

Abstract

Every out-of-hospita lyear over cardiac 350 000 arrest; Americans most will experience not survive. an Provision of bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation improves mortality after cardiac arrest. Yet, our current methods for public cardiopulmonary resuscitation training are burdensome and ineffective. Now is the time for funding agencies to prioritize the rigorous scientific study of established and novel cardiopulmonary resuscitation training methods to create a more efficient and effective program. In so doing, we can arm the public with this vital skill and empower them to save lives.
