Abstract

Metallographic changes were investigated in a commercial ball bearing steel deformed by rolling fatigue testing, and effects of retained austenite in the steel on the fatigue life were also investigated. The fatigue life depends mainly on the character of the martensite, and the existence of the retained austenite improves the fatigue life.
