Abstract

Blunt trauma to the chest is usually a consequence of high-speed vehicular collision and is usually accompanied by multisystem injury. Because of the multiple wounds, the examining physician must be particularly astute and remain aware of the possible presence of these life-threatening lesions. Early recognition and prompt treatment often mean the difference between successful and tragic outcomes. © 1982.
