Abstract

This article presents the 17 Sustainable Development Objectives (ODS), a United Nations program that aims to transform the world. This presentation is interpreted in light of the parameters of the school library. The articulation between the sustainable development and the objectives of the school library allows to place the contributions in the broader scope of a public policy for education. This articulation generated some assumptions such as: enable the increase of reading index; the school library should be part of the social movement that seeks to implement educational and cultural public policies; provide the necessary tools for the formation, development and improvement of the student's competences; open a space for creating and sharing experiences. In conclusion, we believe that the existence of the school library can contribute to propose solutions for the objectives of sustainable development .
