Abstract

A stormwater management study has been initiated in the lower portion of the Rideau River basin within the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton. The purpose of the study is to establish the assimilative capacity of the river and pollutant loadings from upstream and urban sources with the aim of developing the most cost-effective way of controlling pollutants so as to maintain and possibly enhance the recreational use of the Rideau waterway within the urban area. The objectives and major activities of the study are outlined after a brief review of present stormwater management facilities. © 1980 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
