Abstract

The reflection from dry road surfaces is discussed in terms of the CIE classification systems and tested on road lighting installations in south-west Germany. Temporal and local variations of reflection characteristics as measured on streets in Karlsruhe are reported. Finally a study of the effect of wear on the reflection of road samples under realistic conditions of exposure to traffic loads is described. Conclusions are drawn on the design and validation of road lighting installations. © 1989, SAGE Publications. All rights reserved.
