Abstract

ArchitecturalInstitute ofJapan Hpteee#Aee.xx,{kSfe・3tth ca486-Pv, 95-!06, 1996fr・ 8 H A cemparative study of stress-strain curve models for confined coicrete proposed by authers and other researchers is conducted at the first phase of the investigation described in this paper. Five models are applled to predict the resuli,s ofspecimens, which were testcd uiider concentric axial load only, as well as under combilled axial loari amd bending mome]t without momellt gradient. It is concluded that the authors' inodel predicts test results better than the other models studied, The proposed stress-straiii curve medel is applied to predict the flexural bebavior of the plastic hii]ge regions of the columlls under axial load and bending moment with momcnt gradient (shear) aL the second phase of the investigation. The ernphasis is placed on estimation of the flexural strength of celumns made of high-strength concrete, A semi-empirieal formula to estirnate the fiexural strength of coicrete columns is pieposed frorn the viewpoint of practical desigri.
