Abstract

The unprecedented growth of various generations working side by side has prompted the human resource management practitioners and the academicians to recognize the existence of intergenerational differences among workers. This paper attempts to identify and examine the characteristics of Generation X and Generation Y and the factors that affect the working relationship of these two generations. We find the similarities and differences in the characteristics, work attitudes, and work variables that need to be addressed so that both the generations can work effectively and the productivity of both the generations can be leveraged. A set of factors are also identified which affects both these generations.
