On the Mental Health of Jesus Christ

Abstract

Countless skeptics worldwide are persuaded that Jesus was a great teacher but, in fact, deluded as to His identity as the Son of God. This article refutes that belief by examining what is revealed in Scripture about Jesus and by comparing it with psychiatric symptoms manifest by those who are diagnosed as deluded. Four diagnostic catagories, in which delusions are a prominent feature, are discussed. Other symptoms which always accompany delusions are presented. It is concluded that Jesus’ life showed no other psychiatric symptoms and, therefore, His claims about Himself were not delusions but fact.
