Abstract
The purpose of this study is to quantitative identify the current status of the gastronomy and culinary arts education provided at undergraduate level in Turkey and to identified the problems mentioned according to the conducted studies. In this regard, particularly the numerical data about the department were revealed and the studies on gastronomy and culinary arts education were examined. In the study, the information obtained from different sources was synthesized and compiled using the traditional review method. According to the results of the study, the number of gastronomy and culinary arts departments has been quickly increasing since the day they were first opened in Turkey, and such education is provided in different faculties at universities and at colleges. However, as it could be understood from the studies, it is also possible to say that there are various problems despite this numerical increase. Lack of workshops, equipment and materials, insufficient budgets, qualifications of instructors and curricula were the problems addressed in the studies. The problems addressed also include the fact that the students in the higher class have less motivation than the students in the lower class, and the instructors providing education in the department are mostly the individuals who have completed their education in other departments.
