Abstract

In this article we discuss the use of workshops as a research strategy. The basic assumption is that workshops are spaces for the negotiation of meaning, with potential for the collective production of meanings. The negotiation of meanings, in this context, involves a process of dialogical interanimation and of co-construction of identities in a positioning game that allows for the emergence of multiple and contrasting versions about the theme under discussion. As such, the aim of these workshops is not merely the registration of information for the sake of the research objectives given that it raises awareness about the theme under discussion, allowing space for the emergence of new meanings. Hence the need to take our ethical-political responsibility seriously as researchers committed to the creation of spaces for relexivity regarding processes of subjectivation.
