Abstract
Design-Build projects have become popular since they allow project performance optimisation through stakeholder collaboration. However, these projects are difficult to implement due to the unfamiliarity of the stakeholders with DB projects and their lack of experience in implementing such projects. Hence, this study aimed to develop a framework containing the factors that influence stakeholder involvement in Design-Build projects thus that projects would become successful. The study used a mixed approach consisting of expert interviews and a questionnaire survey and the collected empirical data was analysed using manual content analysis and weighted mean rating. The stakeholder involvement in the various tasks associated with project planning and implementation was ranked according to their significance. The enablers of and barriers to successful stakeholder performance were identified and a framework outlining the strategies that would overcome the barriers was developed.
