Abstract

The process of science teaching in Junior High School in Jakarta is still using conventional method, so that students are passive. Utilization of technology and the internet is less effective, whereas facilities and infrastructure in school completed. This study aims to determine the application of blended learning with edmodo based on POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) learning model. The method used in this research is the quasi-experimental method with the research design of The Randomized Post-Test Only Control Group Design, which involved 202 students as samples. Sample determination used the random sampling cluster technique. The subject in this study were lesson plan, edmodo platform, and student's worksheet. The instrument test consists of understanding of students concept. The data analysis technique is Paired Sample T-test. Based on the results of research, application of blended learning with edmodo based on POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) learning model can improve understanding of students concept. The students were more active and highly motivated in learning science.
