Abstract

The article presents information on mastrevirus, a genus of Geminiviridae. Its virion, genome and replication strategy are mentioned. The first report of mealie variegation (maize streak) disease in Africa appeared in 1901. Other members of the family include bean yellow dwarf virus, bromus striate mosaic virus and chloris striate mosaic virus.
