Magnesium sulfate: an essential adjuvant in anesthesiology

Abstract

Magnesium has been described as a fundamental element that participates in basic reactions at the cellular level. Over the last decades, various studies have demonstrated its use in various clinical scenarios such as the treatment of arrhythmias or status epilepticus. Due to their analgesic properties, efficacy and safety, adjuvant drugs such as magnesium sulfate could be considered essential for therapeutic use, improvement and patient satisfaction in the preoperative period.
