Abstract
This paper focuses on the geometric characterization of a specific rotor profile for twin-screw machines, based on a method proposal that can be successfully applied to reproduce any patented or absolutely new profile. At first, the profile generation is explained by means of the necessary theory, supported by the basic mathematical equations. Later, some specific results are presented. They are the sealing (contact) line, the cusp blow-hole area, the inter-lobe area and the cavity volume evolutions. In detail, the cavity volume is strictly linked to the displacement, whereas the sealing (contact) line length and the blow-hole area represent two major paths for fluid leakages. All the geometric calculations have been carried out by means of original scripts and are preliminary to next thermodynamic simulations.
