Abstract

This article presents a state-of-the art review to provide a detailed and coordinated account of the development of textures in titanium and its alloys during thermomechanical processing. In general, the evolution of textures depends on several factors such as deformation temperature and mode of deformation, initial texture and microstructure, degree and rate of deformation, and alloying elements. The correlation of anisotropy of mechanical properties with the type of texture present in the material is summarized. The chronological development of texture modelling and deformation mechanisms in these systems are presented.
