Abstract

Consultation-liaison (C-L) psychiatry has long been implemented in hospitals and clinics. The HMO is a natural setting for the further development of this service because of its commitment to comprehensive patient care. The Psychiatry Department of a large urban HMO initiated a C-L service as a pilot project. Results of this project included coordinated multidisciplinary patient care and enhancement of interprofessional relationships within the organization.
